Tram Mai is a Vietnamese-American Emmy award-winning anchor/reporter/host/news apprentice working for 12News serving as a noon-time anchor. Previously, she was tenured at WSYX/ WTTE-TV as a full-time weekend news anchor/reporter in November 1999.

Mai is an American journalist working for 12News as an anchor at the network’s evening and noontime newscast that airs from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays. Having tenured at the network for more than two decades, she anchors the network’s multi-platform noon show 12 @ 12, with 12 minutes of uninterrupted content. She began her career at KABC in Los Angeles in 1995 as a production assistant. Additionally, she was first hired as a reporter at WOFL in Orlando, FL out of the Gainesville bureau.

Earlier next year she was tenured at CFN-13 in Florida out of the Volusia County bureau. She later relocated to Columbus, OH where she was tenured as a weekend anchor and a reporter. There she served for three years prior to joining KPNX in 2003. She was later accorded an Emmy for her excellent work in her reporting and anchoring career. Additionally, she was also acknowledged as the Best Anchor in 2019, won a Casey Award, several Emmy nominations, and other several awards from the Ohio Society of Professional Journalism.

When she was a year old, she and her family fled on the last plane out of when Saigon before the Communists took over the country. She took her first steps at a refugee camp at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida. The family later relocated to southern California, where she was raised in. She later majored in communication studies with a minor in Asian American Studies and later graduated from UCLA.

There she featured the death of Senator John McCain, the hurricanes in Florida, and Ed’s teacher walkout in Arizona, Arizona’s historic ‘Red. Additionally, she also covered several headlines for the network. She also served as co-host alongside Regis Philbin, where they featured several celebrities, covering the Arizona Cardinals when they went to the Super Bowl in Tampa, Florida, and the red carpet for the Emmys in Los Angeles. As a journalist, the most rewarding part of Tram’s job is making a difference in people’s lives. During her free time, Tram loves camping, baking, decorating, and hosting parties for friends and family, especially kids’ parties.
