Steele, formerly an evening news reporter, acknowledges that caffeine has now taken on greater meaning in his life. More significantly, though, the early hours of the morning give him time to spend with his wife and four daughters. Steele knew from the time he was 8 years old that he wanted to work in the news. He may not have completely appreciated the news reports he delivered on his paper route as a third-grader, but he knew the work was important.

Flash forward to college, where Steele got his start as a journalist writing for various community newspapers and local news websites in Seattle, Washington. It wasn’t long before Steele realized, however, that he could combine his reporting writing skills with his love of storytelling to begin a TV news career.

Steele got his first TV gig as a multimedia reporter at KVAL in Oregon after graduating from the University of Washington with a degree in journalism. His enthusiasm for discovering the facts and sharing unique and meaningful stories quickly won him a job as the weekend anchor of the station. He was promoted to evening anchor at the company’s second station, the NBC affiliate KMTR, after two years. Steele took a big jump from there to California, where he became KTXL ‘s evening anchor.
