Tyler Jankoski is an American Meteorologist working for NBC 5 First Alert Weather Team since joining the station in January 2017. He states that he is happy to be forecasting the weather in New England and northern New York.

Tyler Jankoski Career

Jankoski grew up in Bristol, Connecticut, and he’s been studying New England weather for more than a decade, especially wintertime Nor’easters. Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom is familiar territory for him, as he’s spent many vacations in Cabot visiting family.

Jankoski is a member of the American Meteorological Society. He is a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist, which is a mark of professional distinction and recognition. Jankoski is no stranger to the ever-changing New England weather patterns. Out of college, Jankoski jumped at the opportunity to work as a meteorologist in western Massachusetts at WGGB-TV. After that, Jankoski worked for nearly two years at NBC Connecticut.

He is a graduate of The Pennsylvania State University, one of the nation’s top meteorology schools, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in meteorology. Each summer since 2004, he has volunteered at the Little League Baseball Eastern Regional Tournament in Bristol, Connecticut.

Jankoski is passionate about his volunteer work and enjoys public address announcing, along with all operational aspects of the one-week event in August. The contest has hosted many teams from the Burlington area over the years.

He is a diehard Nittany Lions fan and says there is nothing better than a “White Out” in Beaver Stadium. When he is not working, you can find him cheering on Penn State, photographing fire trucks, volunteering at Little League, skiing, and watching the weather.
