Valerie Mills is an American Meteorologist working with FOX21 News where she serves the station as a Weekend Evening Meteorologist since March 2018. She kick-started her career while she was in college in the town of Tallahassee where she was serving as a meteorologist and multimedia journalist.

Lauderdale native remembers experiencing South Florida hurricanes and other tropical systems as a child, sparking an early interest in weather. She was also inspired in middle school to become a meteorologist. Mills is thankful to be doing what she loves and considers herself lucky to bring you your local weather.
While she was a Seminole, she was interning at stations in Tampa and Miami. She also spent a summer year studying abroad. This is in addition to participating in the FSU student-produced weather show and being a member of the American Meteorological Society. Mills is a no-stranger to the tropical weather. She has helped during wall-to-wall coverage of Category 5 Hurricane Michael’s landfall.
Additionally, in the calm following the storm, she also traveled to areas that were devastated and shared stories from all the local communities. Asides from this, she did live reports during Subtropical Storm Alberto’s Florida Panhandle landfall. This is in addition to forecasting for Hurricanes Irma, Harvey, and Maria during her time working with WTXL.
The Florida native loves her home state but has always wanted to live in the mountains and forecast all the exciting, unpredictable weather that comes with it. She also loves camping, doing yoga, hiking, and being outdoors with her dogs as she explores all that the Colorado area has to offer. Asides from that, she loves interacting with her viewers and enjoys when people say hi when they meet her and out and about.
