Vern Glenn Biography
Vern Glenn is an American three-time Emmy Award-Winning journalist working for KPIX5 serving as a sports anchor/reporter. He joined the station in June 2012.
Vern Glenn Career
Glenn joined the station serving as a Weekend Sports Anchor/weekday sports reporter & MMJ. Since joining the stations, he has managed to win three Emmy Awards for Best Sportscaster. He was inaugurated into the SF/NorCal Silver Circle Hall of Fame in October 2020. He had also worked for other stations prior to joining KPIZ5. For instance, he previously worked for KRON 4 News since 1990. He was nicknamed “Mr. Involvement” while still in KRON4 for literally throwing himself in the middle of his feature stories. Some of the major stories he enclosed include sky diving, a dirt bike crash, bungee jumping, pro football, boxing, and bull riding. He also reported on the 2000 Summer Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia which was among his special assignment.
From a shoot-out with Chris Mullin to becoming a human target playing for the Cal football team and the 49ers, “Mr. Involvement” has created a niche in the market. He also worked for KNBR Radio and was part of the Morning show in 1998 and drops in now and then as a guest on 95.7 The Game. He also spent some time working for WBAL-TV in Baltimore. Maryland where he served as a weekend sports anchor and sports reporter from 1987 to 1990. Before joining WBAL-TV, he previously worked for WXEX-TV, now WRIC, in Richmond, Virginia from 1985 to 1987 where he served as a sports anchor, sports reporter, and photographer. Glenn attended the University of Virginia where he graduated. He is also very much active on his social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
