Veronica Macias is an American Journalist working for KION-TV as an evening anchor since joining the station in January 2020. Previously, she worked for KTXS in Abilene, Texas as an evening anchor and reporter for 3 years.
Veronica Macias Education
Macias joined UC Irvine in 2002 when she finished her high school education. In 2005, she graduated with a Bachelor Of Arts degree in Political Science & Humanities Law. In 2009, she joined Georgetown University and graduated in 2010 with a Master Of Arts degree in Journalism.
From September 2009 to December 2009, she was a news intern for NBC4 Washington. She produced web content, wrote scripts for several team stories, interviewed sources for weekend newscasts, and enrolled in NBC4 media training.

Macias serves KION-TV as an evening anchor. Previously, she worked for KTXS in Abilene, Texas as an evening anchor and reporter. During her time in Abilene, she broadcasted the aftereffects of several tornados that hit the Big Country. She went on assignment in Odessa to broadcast the mass shooting in the Permian basin.
Macias caught the journalism bug when she was a child reading the front page of the Los Angeles Times to her father. She realized journalism was her calling when she interned in Washington, D.C.Macias has a passion for people and believes everyone can learn something from each other’s experiences.
Before KTXS, Macias served as a general assignment news reporter for Media General in Charleston, South Carolina from September 2013 to March 2015. From January 2012 to May 2013, Macias served as a reporter for Cox Media Group in the El Paso, Texas Area. There she served as a general assignment reporter.
Macias served as a news aide for The Washington Post from November 2007 to January 2009. There, she reported for the city desk weekly publication and helped prepare the last edition of Metro’s section. Her career began at Hispanic Link News Service where she worked as a Scripps Howard Fellow from June 2006 to December 2006. There, she reported on Congress and advocacy groups in Washington for news-wire service. She then joined Telemundo Network as a news intern from September 2007 to December 2007. There, she researched and conducted interviews and covered Capitol Hill and the D.C. metropolitan area.
