Wesly Ruff Biography

Wesly Ruff is an American director/anchor/reporter working at ABC4 News where he serves as a sports anchor and sports director a position he took up in 2002. He joined the ABC4 news team in October 1985, after previously working at KFYR-TV in Bismarck, North Dakota. 

Wesly Ruff Education

Ruff attended Springville High School where he graduated with honors. While he studied at Springville High School, he also played golf, and basketball, and ran track for the Red Devils. He also served as the basketball and track captain. Later on, he joined Southern Utah State College in Cedar City which is currently known as Southern Utah University. In 1982, he graduated with a degree in Broadcast Journalism from Brigham Young University.

He joined the ABC4 team as a weekday sports anchor and weekend sports reporter in October 1985 but currently serves as a sports anchor and sports director. Springville, Utah is his native home and he began his career at KFYR-TV in Bismarck, North Dakota where he served as a sports photographer, weekday sports reporter, and weekday sports reporter from 1982 to 1985.

Over the years, he has earned many awards for his anchoring and reporting. As voted by his peers, he has been named the Utah Sportscaster of the Year in the years 1998, 2002, 2004, 2006, and 2008. The Utah Section PGA named Wesly as the Bill Howard Golf Citizen of the Year in 2000, 2006, and 2017.

In addition, he also won a number of awards from the Society of Professional Journalists. Furthermore, the Nebo School District inducted him into its Sports Hall of Fame in 2016. Furthermore, he is often a speaker and serves as a master of ceremonies for a number of charities and golf events. During his sparer time, the enjoys golf, biking, water skiing, crossword puzzles, and spending ample time with his family.
