Yaw Bonsu Biography
Yaw Bonsu is an American journalist working for WZZM as a sports reporter and anchor on 13 On Your Side since joining the station in June 2024.
Yaw Bonsu Education
Bonsu joined Hofstra University when he finished his high school education. In 2024, he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree. In college, he was an intern at ABC 7 New York’s sports department for 11 months, s consumer unit intern at NBC 4 New York for 8 months.
Bonsu also interned at Fox News’ The Ingraham Angle, Fox News’ Cavuto LIVE, Fox Sports, Varsity Media, SiriusXM Fight Nation 156, and the Bruce Beck Sports Broadcasting Camp. Moreover, he worked for 77 WABC Radio as a part-time weekend news anchor.
In 2022, Bonsu helped Turner Sports’ team with their NBA Opening Night broadcast as an NBA on TNT Oscar Pope Lift Every Voice Fellow. Additionally, he interviewed Juan Toscano Anderson on ‘Inside The NBA’ before the game. In 2023, he rejoined Turner Sports as a student sideline reporter for the Invesco QQQ Legacy Classic
On campus, Bonsu served WRHU-FM New York as a sports director. In this role, he collaborated with Peter Silverman to supervise radio operations for the Long Island Nets, New York Islanders, Long Island Ducks, New York Riptide, and Hofstra Athletics. He also served the station as an associate sports director, a news anchor/reporter, and a producer.

Bonsu works for WZZM as a sports reporter and anchors on 13 On Your Side. In this role, he shoots, reports, and edits sports stories for the weekday newscasts at 5 and 11 p.m. and digital platforms. He also produces and anchors the weekend evening sportscasts. Further, he co-hosts “13 On Your Sidelines,” a program devoted to high school football in Western Michigan. Additionally, he uses social media and other digital platforms to engage and update the audience on all things sports in Michigan.
