Summers joined Illinois State University after finishing his high school education. He later graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications with a concentration in Broadcast Journalism. While in college, he honed his reporting skills as a student journalist for TV-10 News, the university’s student-run television station.
During his first year in college, Summers worked at the student radio station, WZND. There, he did news cut-ins before switching to deejaying under the alias DJ Summertime.He also worked as a tour guide for the Office of Admissions. The Midwest native is thrilled to return to Kansas City. Before returning to Kansas City, he worked for KDAF and has spent time in Southern California, the Pacific Northwest, and Texas.
Summers was on the ground in Branson, Missouri, in July 2018 after a duck boat got swept under during a storm at Table Rock Lake, claiming the lives of 17 people on board. Also, he helped tenants in pitiful conditions by exposing landlords. Moreover, he has knocked on doors asking family members to speak about losing a loved one in traumatic incidents, like homicides.
