Zach Solon is an American Award-Winning Anchor and Reporter working for WECT News serving as an anchor and reporter. He joined the station in January 2021 after previously working as a news anchor and reporter at Capital News Service( CNS) in Washington DC.

Solon attended Pascack Hills High School in 2013 where he graduated with a diploma in 2017. After high school, he enrolled at Maryland University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and a minor in General Business in 2020. At the University, he worked as an intern at SiriusXM where he covered many stories such as the UMD’s Capital News Service. Zach was also a member of the Sigma Alpha Mu Fraternity and was a team member of the College Park Scholars.

Solon serves as an anchor and reporter at WECT News in Wilmington, North Carolina. He joined the station in January 2021 working as a multimedia journalist and weekend anchor. As a weekend anchor, Zach was in charge of producing weeknight newscasts, editing packages, and writing content for digital platforms. In April 2022, he secured a position as a reporter and anchor at the same station. Solon also creates Friday Night Football sportscasts as well as anchors weeknight newscasts at 7 p.m.
Before joining WECT News, Zach serves as a news anchor and reporter at Capital News Service( CNS) in Washington DC. During his time at CNS, he was responsible for editing packages, shooting, and conducting research. He also controlled live audio production and anchored a live Spectrum Cable network in Prince George’s and Montgomery Counties. Previously, Solon served as a production assistant and student broadcaster at Big Ten Network in College Park. While there, he operated a camera, researched, and delivered play-by-play sports news.
Prior to working at Big Ten Network, he served as a reporter and executive producer at The Left Bench. His roles included supervising a bi-weekly studio show and moderating reporters for all Maryland athletic events. Solon served the station for three months from October 2017 to December 2020.
Zach started his career at SiriusXM in New York where he worked as a NFL Radiao intern. He spent three months working for the station from June 2020 to August 2020 where he interviewed players. He also created daily talk shows, logged NFL games as well as edited promos. Apart from being a journalist, Solon worked for Life Time Inc. as a lifeguard, aquatics supervisor, and swim instructor. While at Life Time Inc. Zach taught children under the age of 2-12 how to swim.
