Cindy Sexton is an American anchor working for WRCB as the evening anchor at 4, 5, 6, and 11 p.m. She has been a prime anchor at Local 3 News in Chattanooga for over 35 years and joined Channel 3 in 1995.

Sexton joined Murray State University after finishing her high school education. She later graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in English and Speech with a minor in Theatre Arts. While in college, she participated in the intercollegiate debate and speech team.

Sexton works for WRCB as the evening anchor at 4, 5, 6, and 11 p.m. She has co-anchored with David Carroll since 1992, making them the longest-running anchor team in Tennessee and one of the longest-running teams in the nation.
Sexton has been a prime anchor at Local 3 News in Chattanooga for over 35 years. During this time, she was involved with the Local 3 News’ Veterans History Project, which chronicled and preserved over 600 stories of veterans here in the Tennessee Valley. More than 100 of these stories were shown on Channel 3, including her father’s story as a Marine in Guadalcanal in World War II.
Sexton’s love of people and their stories can be seen in her special reports. Inspired by her own daughter’s adoption, she created “Forever Family,” which has helped give foster care children a voice and let them be in the spotlight. In this capacity, she has given over 400 children the chance to share their own stories in their own words and inspired adoption from foster care.
Besides her work on TV, Sexton worked as a graduate assistant at Murray State University, where she taught the basic speech course and helped coach the debate team. Also, she was certified to teach high school but began reporting for WPSD-TV in Paducah in 1980. She then worked as a bureau chief at KFVS-TV in Cape Girardeau before anchoring the news at WHNT-TV in Huntsville and at KLAS-TV in Las Vegas.

Awards and Community Work
Over the years, Sexton has earned several accolades, including earning the Best of the Best News Personality Honor eight times. Also, she was named Best News Anchor in Huntsville, Alabama. She won the John Seigenthaler Award for her Forever Family series, where she shares the stories of foster children, and the NAB Service to Children Award. She received the 1998 Woman of Distinction Honor. The American Heart Association named her its Citizen of the Year in 2005.
Sexton enjoys taking part in community activities. In this capacity, she sits on the boards of The Hamilton County Education Foundation and The McNabb Center. She was previously on the boards of the YMCA, the Craniofacial Foundation of America, FCA, the Center for Youth Issues, and the Helene Di Stefano Fund to help women battling breast cancer.
