David Karnes Biography

David Karnes is an American meteorologist working at WRCB where he serves as a chief meteorologist and morning meteorologist. He joined the WRCB team in July 2021, after previously working at WPLZ where he served as a host.

David Karnes Education

David is a Soddy-Daisy High School graduate. He attended Middle Tennessee State University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in broadcast journalism. In 1986, he joined King University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 1990.

David Karnes Career

Karnes works at Local 3 News where he serves as a Chief Meteorologist. Prior to joining the WRCB team, he worked at SNN News 6 in Sarasota, Florida where he worked for 9 years as a chief meteorologist. While he worked at  SNN, his most memorable moment was covering Hurricane Charley. In addition, he has also worked at the NBC station in Yuma, Arizona where he served as a chief meteorologist and covered a tropical storm that came up the Gulf of California and made landfall in Yuma.

In addition, he was honored with the American Meteorological Society seal of approval. During his leisure time, he enjoys spending ample time with his family and being active in his church. He is also actively involved in assisting a high school theater group known as HSP which focuses on the works of Sullivan and Gilbert.
