Lori Mitchell Biography

Lori Mitchell is an American anchor working at Channel 3 where she serves as a weekday morning co-anchor of the morning newscast from 5 am to 7 am. She joined WRCB-TV in February 2017. In addition, she also reported on her weekly Making a Difference segment.

In 1995, she joined Allen County-Scottsville High School where she graduated in 1999. Later on, she joined Western Kentucky University where she graduated in 2003, with a Bachelor of Arts in broadcast news and minors in sociology and criminology.

Mitchell works at WRCB-TV where she serves as the weekday morning co-anchor. She decided to pursue a career in journalism as she has always been interested, in and curious about events. Prior to working at Local 3 News, she worked at WKRN in Nashville for a decade as a reporter and anchor. While she worked at WKRN, she covered a number of the biggest stories in Music City, inclusive of the devastating historic flood of 2010. In addition, she was among the hours of continuous team coverage and filed live reports from a number of the hardest-hit areas for television stations across the country.

Furthermore, while she worked in Nashville, she interviewed; celebrities, politicians, athletes, and country music singers. Over the years, she appeared a number of times on the Nashville television show where she played the role of a television news journalist. In addition, she also covered news in Bowling Green, Kentucky and while she worked at WBKO, she served as the primary weekday anchor from at 5:00 pm and 6:00 p.m.

While she still attended Western Kentucky University, she completed an internship at WRTV in Indianapolis. She began her broadcasting career in her hometown of Scottsville, Kentucky where she worked at WLCK-WVLE radio before she began working in television. In addition, she competed in the nationally televised Miss USA pageant on NBC and is a former Miss Kentucky USA.

Furthermore, she relocated to Chattanooga in 2017, with her husband Tom who is a Signal Mountain native. She is also actively involved with the Kidney Foundation of Greater Chattanooga. In September 2017, Lori was also a member of the 10th annual Dare to Dance cast and raised money to assist local kidney patients.
