Megan Parry Biography
Megan Parry is an American Emmy award-Winning Meteorologist working with KGTV/ABC10 News in San Diego. There, she serves the station as a Morning and Midday Meteorologist.
Megan Parry Education
The San Diego native attended Twin Peaks Middle School and Poway High School. This was before heading to Irvine where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Earth and Environmental Science from the University of California, Irvine.
Later on, after a short stint as an Environmental Scientist for the California Environmental Protection Agency, she went back to school in order to follow her dreams of becoming a meteorologist. Asides from this, she also headed to the South and had a new life experience while earning her Master of Science in Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University with a 4.0 GPA.
Megan Parry Career
Parry works with ABC10 News where she serves the station as a Morning and Midday meteorologist. During her time working in Mississippi, she worked as the weekend meteorologist at WTOK, an ABC affiliate in Meridian. When working with WTOK, she headed to the Great Plains to storm chase, and she witnessed firsthand the damage felt by the 2011 Joplin, Mo., EF-5 tornado-the 7th-deadliest tornado on record.
Upon completing her graduate degree, she moved to Medford, Ore., where she joined the ABC team at KDRV as the morning meteorologist. In her time in Medford, she enjoyed volunteering at the local animal shelter, where she adopted her second rescue dog. Asides from this, she also hosted the annual Pet Fashion Shown. Asides from this, she transitioned to the evening newscast and was voted as the second “Most Popular TV Personality of Southern Oregon.”
Additionally, she also has a love for animals, especially dogs, and enjoys volunteering at the San Diego Humane Society with one of her three rescue dogs, Coco Chanel Sprinkles. Additionally, she is very active in her community and loves to travel with her husband, doing Crossfit, and considers herself a nancho connoisseur. Asides from this she states that she can never turn into a good craft beer.
After spending about four years away from Southern California and forecasting a wide range of weather from thunderstorms to tornados and snowstorms, she was ready to return home to San Diego. She also states that she is happy to be closer to family and forecasts her favorite type of weather, microclimates.
