Sealls also received a best-in-state award for his documentary on Hurricane Ivan. He also received an award from the American Meteorological Society for excellence in science reporting for a three-part series he produced on climate change.

During Hurricane Irma in 2017, Reddit users voted him “Best Weatherman Ever” after one of his weather segments went viral on social media. Alan was voted Best Meteorologist in Mobile by Lagniappe newspaper readers six years in a row. He received the AMS Award for Broadcast Meteorology in 2019 for a career of science education to the public and his peers. Alan has also received a number of community service awards in recent years. He has been recognized as a meteorology trailblazer.
