Kelly Foster Biography

Kelly Foster is an American Anchor/Meteorologist working with NBC 15/WPMI-TV located in Mobile, Alabama where she serves the station as a Morning News Anchor. Asides from this, she is an AMS and NWA Sealed Meteorologist and also serves the station as a Meteorologist. She has been working with the station since the year 2001. 

Kelly Foster Education

Foster holds two bachelor’s degrees. She earned a degree in Radio, Television, and Film from the University of Southern Mississippi. Kelly also has a Meteorology degree from Mississippi State University. She also attended Auburn University and the University of London in England.

Kelly Foster Career

Foster works with NBC 15 where she serves the station as a Morning Anchor and as a Meteorologist/reporter. Prior to joining the Gulf Coast team, she was working as an anchor at WDAM-TV’s highly rated Live @ 5 newscasts. She was also serving the station as a part-time meteorologist. Asides from this, she has also worked at WXXV-TV where she was serving the station as a morning anchor.

She has also won a first-place Alabama Associated Press Award and was named Best Feature Reporter in the state. Asides from this, she has also been recognized by the Associated Press with a first-place award for “best franchise” reporting. Asides from this, she has also been awarded the American Meteorological Society’s Seal of Approval and has also received the Seal of Approval from the National Weather Association.

Her passion has always been Tropical Meteorology and she has covered close to a dozen Gulf Coast landfalls with direct hits from Major Hurricanes Ivan(Strong Cat 3, Landfall Gulf Shores AL). Asides from this, she has covered Hurricane Dennis(Cat 3 Landfall Pensacola/Navarre Beach, FL), and Hurricane Katrina( Strong Cat 3 Landfall LA/MS border).

Prior to the landfall, Ivan and Katrina were Cat 5 storms with Dennis at its strongest just under a Cat 5. Asides from this, she has also experienced first-hand the aftermath and destruction of Ivan and Katrina, which are considered some of the most destructive hurricanes of all time. The Mississippi Gulf native is happy to be working in a market close to home. Away from work, she enjoys spending her time with her family. On the other hand, her hobbies include singing, reading the works of Southern authors, boating, and playing tennis.
