Alex Finnie Biography

Alex Finnie is an American Anchor/Reporter working for Local 10 News in Miami-Fort Lauderdale Area where she serves the station as an Anchor/Reporter. She has been working with the station since the month of May 2018.

The Miami native attended the Cushman School and New World School of the Arts in high school. He is a proud graduate of St. John’s University in New York City where he obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Television and Film Production.

The month of October 2018 saw him cover Hurricane Michael in the Florida Panhandle. While there, she was reported before, during, and after the storm. She explains that Local 10 was the first South Florida station to send a crew to cover the catastrophic Category 5 storm that ravaged large portions of the Florida Panhandle. Additionally, she also traveled to Pittsburgh to cover the horrific mass shooting at the Tree of Life Synagogue in October 2018. Local 10 was the only Soth Florida station that traveled to Pittsburgh.

She has also worked in newsrooms around the country from New York City to Alabama. In his entire career, she has had the chance to interview a wide variety of notable people which include President Barack Obama, the Rev. Al Sharpton, Oprah Winfrey, and President Donald Trump. Asides from this, she has covered the widely publicized Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley scandal which led to his resignation as well as the heated Alabama Senate race between Roy Moore, and Senator Doug Jones.

Asides from this, she has had the honor of covering the 50-year anniversary of “Bloody Sunday” in Selma, Alabama, and the event that led to the Voting Rights Act. Away formwork, she enjoys volunteering in the community, relaxing when she can, and spending time with her family. Asides from this, she loves being back in South Florida telling the stories that affect the community she has called home since childhood.
