Amber Alexander Biography
Amber Alexander is an American former meteorologist who is best known for her time at 13 News where she was a weekday and weekend meteorologist. She joined 13 News in December 2015 and departed in July 2022, citing mental health reasons. She has been working as a Director of Community Engagement at Kinship Brewing Co in Waukee, Iowa since she left WHO 13 News. Before she joined WHO, she worked for KNOP in North Platte, Nebraska.
Council Bluffs, Iowa is her native home and she attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Meteorology/Climatology. Alexander served as the secretary for the Activities Director for the Nebraska Storm Chase Team, the American Meteorological Society at Nebraska, and a two-year intern at the state climate office. In addition, she started her broadcasting career at the UNL’s student-run newscast known as Star City News where she served as a reporter and she interned at KETV in Omaha.
She is happy to be working in Iowa as it has a wide variety of weather conditions despite her hating the cold winters. While Amber worked in Nebraska, she enjoyed storm chasing and one of her first storm chasing trips was in April 2012, with her fellow students she even caught her first tornado in Solomon, Kansas.
