Keith Murphy is an American anchor and reporter working for 13 News as the sports director anchoring sports news at 6 pm and 10 pm. He joined the Channel 13 news team in 1996. In addition, he also serves as the host of SoundOFF with Keith Murphy and Andy Fales, which airs on Sunday nights live at 10:35.
Over the years, Murphy has won awards such as the Iowa Sportscaster of the Year, Emmy awards, IBNA choices for Best Sportscast, and Associated Press many times. He has also won Sevareid and Murrow awards for outstanding sports reporting. Keith also serves as the host of SoundOFF which is both entertaining and informative even for non-sports enthusiasts. Not long ago, SoundOFF celebrated its 800th show and is currently in its 17th year with more people watching than ever, and it keeps winning awards.
Prior to joining Channel 13, he worked at WOI-TV in Des Moines where he served as the sports director and as the play-by-play announcer for Cyclone basketball on ESPN and the Iowa – Iowa State football game on ABC regional television. During his downtime, he enjoys a modern-day Brady Bunch with his blended family, playing sports or video games, pulling pranks, and watching movies.
