Amber Wheeler Biography
Amber Wheeler is an American AP award-winning certified Meteorologist currently working for Good Day Dakota. She joined the KX family in March of 2012.
Amber Wheeler Education
Amber earned a degree in News and Documentary from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Her interest in science and communication led her to Mississippi State University, where she studied Geoscience and Broadcast Meteorology.
Amber Wheeler Career
She began her television career in 2006 as a Multi-Media Journalist and Newscast Director at Greensboro, North Carolina’s WFMY News 2. One of her earliest memories was of her father rushing her and her sister into their church to get them out of the path of a tornado. Amber realized the power of Mother Nature on that day, along with her memories of Hurricane Fran in 1996.
She was captivated by the ability of certain local meteorologists and news reporters to humbly guide you through catastrophic weather events. Her volunteer work in the community is where she takes the most pride. Amber taught kids the art of filmmaking at the Boys and Girls Club and worked with Habitat for Humanity to rebuild homes in Minot after the 2011 flood. Amber served on the board of the Minot YWCA, a women and children’s homeless shelter.
