Amy Freeze Biography

Amy Freeze is an American six-time Emmy award-winning meteorologist working at FOX Weather where she serves as an anchor on the ad-supported streaming weather service. She joined FOX Weather in 2021, after previously working at WABC.

In 1988, Freeze joined Jeffersonville High School where she graduated in 1992, with a diploma. Later on, she joined Weber State University where she studied communications. She has also studied at Brigham Young University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in communications and religion in 1995. Furthermore, in 1997, she joined Mississippi State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in geosciences in 2004. Later in 2005, she joined the University of Pennsylvania where she earned an MES in Environmental Sciences in 2007.

Freeze works at FOX Weather where she served as an anchor on the ad-supported streaming weather service. From April 2011 to October 2020, she worked at WABC where she was part of the weather team and host of a number of broadcast specials and the popular Eyewitness News Weekend Morning Edition. Prior to joining WABC, she was the first female Chief Meteorologist in Chicago, Illinois where she worked at WFLD-TV. Before joining WFLD-TV, she worked at WCAU-TV in Philadelphia where she served as a meteorologist and co-host of the daily live program at 10 pm. In addition, she has also worked at ABC-owned station KMGH-TV in Denver, Colorado where she served as the co-host of the morning show, she also worked at KPTV-TV in Portland, Oregon where she worked on the morning news program Good Day Oregon.

Furthermore, while working on television, she has covered and received many accolades such as an Emmy award for Outstanding Host and  Best Weathercaster, and in 2007, she received an Emmy for Surviving Severe Weather. Worldwide, Freeze was the 11th woman to be given by the American Meteorological Society (AMS) their prestigious Certificate Broadcast Meteorologist. Peculiarly, both the National Weather Association and the AMS awarded her with their Seals of Approval.
