Annalisa Burgos Biography

Annalisa Burgos is an American anchor/reporter and correspondent working for Hawaii News Now as a reporter and weekend evening anchor at 5 pm, 9 pm, and 10 pm. She joined Hawaii News Now in April 2022, after previously working at KITV4 where she was a reporter and morning anchor. 

Los Angeles is where she was born and brought up ad in 1995, Burgos joined the University of California, Los Angeles where she graduated in 2000, with a Bachelor of Arts in communications and English with a specialization in business administration. Later in 2003, she joined Columbia University where she earned a Master’s in broadcasting in 2004.

She started her journalism career as a newspaper reporter. Burgos brings personal and credible reporting from Asia politics to Wall Street to travel and food. She also covered the historic US, and North Korean Summits listened to Filipino and indigenous communities who feel invisible, and interviewed newsmakers such as a young Harvard dropout known as Mark Zuckerberg.

Annalisa is an international television anchor who has over 22 years of experience in covering news, business, and lifestyle in New York City, Los Angeles, Singapore, Manila, and other cities across Asia and the United States. In addition, she teaches news reporting at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and not long ago, she worked on KITV-4, where she served as an anchor and reporter.

In 2019, she was a Jefferson Fellow of the East-West Center, and she studied immigration policy in Australia, the Philippines, Korea, and Hawaii. Prior to relocating to Honolulu, she worked at ABS-CBN News Channel where she served as a news anchor and managing editor.

Furthermore, Burgos covered local and international politics, and the Duterte administration, and served as the host of the Food Diplomacy segment while she worked at ABS-CBN News Channel. Before joining the ABS-CBN News Channel, she worked for Channel NewsAsia based in Singapore where she served as a correspondent and anchor.

While she worked at Channel NewsAsia, she traveled across Asia for her weekly food and travel series known as What’s Cooking. In addition, she has also worked in New York as a digital editor, reporter, and anchor for major media companies, such as Bloomberg, Forbes, HGTV, and CNBC.

Furthermore, she is an advocate for the Filipino community as a board member for the Filipino Young Leaders Program in addition to supporting youth and women empowerment. Whenever she finds time, she enjoys traveling, singing karaoke, exploring new food and cultures, and spending ample time with her husband and two children.
