Ford works as a National correspondent at WECT-TV in Washington, D.C. She also provides news mainly focusing on the Capitol and the White House to various channels such as FOX. CBS, and ABC. Ashonti joined the station in July 2023 where she has been working for more than eight months. In addition to working at WECT-TV, she also works as a news reporter at Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting. She has been with the station since she joined in January 2020 where she reports on international stories.
Before joining Pulitzer Center, Ford worked for Bay News 9 as a news reporter in Tampa, Florida. She worked for the station for three years from August 2020 to July 2023. Previously, she served as a reporter at Atlanta Bllack Star where she provided awareness and health issues affecting African Americans. Initially, Ashonti worked for WDAF-TV, the FOX4 affiliate in Kansas City, Missouri where she served as a reporter from March 2019 to January 2020. While there, Ford was in charge of providing breaking news, conducting research, and covering national and local news.
Prior to working for WDAF-TV, she served as a producer, anchor, and MMJ at WAND-TV in Decatur, Illinois. During her time at WAND-TV, Ford hosted a weekly Foodie Friday segment and filled in as a weekend evening anchor. Besides this, she also wrote and edited stories for social media and broadcast platforms. Previously, she served as an MMJ and reporter at KSNW-TV in Wichita, Kansas from July 2016 to June 2018. Previously, Ford worked as a reporter at Wmdt-Television Channel 47 in Salisbury, Maryland from August 2015 to July 2016. She also covered major breaking including the Clinton and Trump presidential election campaign. Prior to working at Wmdt, Ashonti worked as an on-air personality on Dash Radio where she worked from August 2014 to August 2015. Ford began her career as an intern at KMIR 6 News in Palm Springs, California, working there from August 2014 to July 2015. During her time at KMIR 6 News, she helped anchors and reporters with daily tasks and assisted with the production of evening newscasts.
Ford served as a marketing associate at WPBT2 in Miami, Florida from September 2012 to August 2014. Prior to working for WPBT2, she worked for CBS News as an investigative Unit where she served from May 2012 to November 2012. She also worked together with George Zimmerman as well as produced investigative news for the station. Before working at CBS News, Ford served as a newsroom and live intern at KGO-TV in San Francisco Bay.
