Ben Pine Biography

Ben Pine is an American news Anchor and Meteorologist currently working as the Chief Meteorologist for WHAS11 TV the ABC affiliate in Louisville, Kentucky. He began his television career (luckily before YouTube) at Ball State University on WCRH-TV in Muncie, Indiana.

Ben’s first appearance on television was in fifth grade when he won a weather drawing contest and was featured on the noon news by a specific St. Louis weatherman. Ben is now happy to be in charge of warning people to seek shelter when severe weather and tornadoes strike.

Ben began his television career (luckily before YouTube) at Ball State University on WCRH-TV in Muncie, Indiana. For the first professional gig, he and his wife Sarah were heading to Peoria, Illinois for a stint in radio and forecasting for professional golf tournaments with Mobile Weather Team, INC.

Ben subsequently worked for a year at KRCG-TV in Jefferson City, Missouri, and then three years at WAGT-TV in Augusta, Georgia, as a morning meteorologist. In May of 2008, he joined the First Alert Storm Team. “I will always remember getting to caddy on those hallowed grounds of Augusta National for three seasons, and getting to play four times!” Pine said as he arrived in the home of one of golf’s best courses and the Masters.

Ben has received the American Meteorological Society’s (AMS) Seal of Approval, as well as the National Weather Association’s (NWA) Seal and the coveted Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) Seal. Pine got the Associated Press award for “Best Weather Reporting” in Georgia in 2007.
