She was a voracious writer as a child, meticulously recording her daily activities and composing her own stories. Her passion for the written word has only grown stronger over time. Elle joined the team in October 2020 and is looking forward to continuing her career in the Commonwealth. She earned a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in Political Science from the University of Kentucky in May 2020.
Smith was the vice president of the UK chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists, a reporter for the UK Student News Network, and a cameraman for UK Athletics and the SEC Network during her time as a Wildcat. She boldly moved to a variety of cities for internships and experience during her college years.
In the summer of 2019, she worked as a Fox News College Associate in their Washington, D.C. bureau. She also worked as a videographer intern in Arkansas and spent a semester in Florence, Italy, studying abroad. Elle is most commonly found singing loudly to a show tune while attempting a new recipe or reading a book given by a friend when she is not planning a trip.
Traveling is one of Elle’s favorite pastimes since it allows her to learn about different cultures while also giving her new insights into her own.
