Bill Bryant is an American journalist working for WKYT as an evening and nighttime anchor and managing editor. He also hosts the public affairs, “Comment on Kentucky,” and “Kentucky Newsmakers,” which he also produces. He joined the station in May 1984 and has served the station for over decades.
Bill Bryant Education
Bryant joined the University of the Cumberlands in 1981 when he finished his high school education. There, he was a news editor for the campus newspaper. In 1983, he transferred to Eastern Kentucky University where he studied broadcast journalism and political science.
During his time at EKU, Bryant was a charter member of the campus chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists. Additionally, he also held a summer internship at WKYT in 1984 between his junior and senior years at EKU.

During his career, Bryant has held interviews with 14 Kentucky governors, multiple US senators, and other state and national leaders in politics and business. Also, he has been a moderator for numerous political debates. In July 2024, he received the prestigious Silver Circle award from the Ohio Valley chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
Bryant has won multiple awards including honors from the Associated Press for his reports and anchoring. He proudly serves as a member of the EKU Hall of Distinguished Alumni and the Williamsburg High School Hall of Fame. The Daughters of the American Revolution recently granted him its statewide media award.
Before stepping behind the microphone at his hometown radio station at age 15 in Williamsburg, he first experienced journalism by printing a newspaper and selling it on the streets in grade schools alongside some of his classmates. In high school, Bryant played basketball, ran track, was the school president, and started his journey on radio and cable TV.
