Bill Meck Biography
Bill Meck is an American meteorologist working at LEX 18 where he serves as the chief meteorologist. He was previously working at WTHR-TV in Indianapolis as a weekend meteorologist.
Meck has served as the master of ceremonies at many events such as Lakeside Live, the Lexington Music Awards, The Kentucky Rose of Tralee, fundraisers, and a number of galas. He has also been a featured reader with the Lexington Philharmonic and he speaks to numerous clubs and service organizations throughout the year. Bill served as the voice of the Man O War Swim conference in Lexington for more than ten years and was the PA announcer for Lexington Catholic soccer for 4 years, while his daughter, Olivia, played.
In addition, his love for weather began when he was 6 years old, and he carries books to every Bill’s Weather 101s to prove that his dream came true while he was 20 years old when he worked at WOI-TV in Des Moines as a morning and weekend weatherman.
He attended Iowa State University where he graduated proudly and later on, he relocated to Spartanburg, South Carolina. He also worked in Indianapolis and Roanoke before he found his way to Lexington. As of the moment, he runs a successful business in Lexington while his daughter, Olivia graduated from the UK and has embarked on her journey to becoming a Physician’s Assistant.
Furthermore, Bill serves as an Advisory Board member for the Salvation Army in addition to chairing the annual LemonAid Days. In matters regarding severe weather safety, he has served on committees at the local and state level. Chicago is his native home and he passionately cheers for the Bears, Cubs, and Blackhawks. In addition, he is a long-time season ticket holder for UK football and whenever he can, he enjoys large tailgates with friends and family.
