Seth Phillips Biography
Seth Phillips is an American Emmy award-winning meteorologist who is best known for his time at LEX 18 where he served as a Sunrise weekend meteorologist. He joined the LEX 18 weather team in May 2016, after previously working at KDRV NewsWatch 12 as a meteorologist.
Cajun Country is his native home and he grew up watching tornadoes and hurricanes. He experience first-hand the effects of harsh weather when Hurricanes Katrina and Rita struck and he volunteered at local shelters to assist displaced families. He attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts with a concentration in Broadcasting and later on, he attended Mississippi State University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science with a concentration in Broadcast Meteorology. In addition, Mississippi State University awarded him with a Broadcast Meteorology Certificate.
Phillips began his career in Medford, Oregon where he worked at KDRV NewsWatch 12 as the weekend meteorologist for the first-morning weekend newscast in the Rogue Valley. After serving as the weekend morning meteorologist for a year, he was promoted to serving as a morning and midday meteorologist on the Emmy Award Winning NewsWatch 12 Midday. Furthermore, Seth forecasted a number of intense snow, severe storms, and the west’s famous summer fire weather. He also took part and won first place in Dancing With the Rogue Valley Stars which is a local dance competition and fundraiser that raises money for Sparrow Clubs of Oregon. During his free time, he enjoys biking, skiing, hiking, and running.
