In addition to his broadcasting career, he is the author of several books including; “Count The Rings” which chronicles the first ten New England sports championships of this century, and “Irish Thunder: The Hard Life and Times of Micky Ward,” for which he was hired as a technical consultant to the Oscar-nominated movie “The Fighter.” Other books he has authored include “Impact Statement: A Family’s Fight for Justice Against Whitey Bulger, Stephen Flemmi and the FBI,” “Breakdown,” and “Destiny Derailed;” and all the proceeds from his book, “The Fellowship of the No Longer Miserable,” go to the Jimmy Fund.

He received his education at Mater De High School where he graduated. After graduating from high school, he attended and graduated from Washington and Lee University.

Prior to his retirement, he worked for WCVB-TV as a news/sports anchor and reporter. He joined the station in January 2003 as a freelance anchor/reporter and in 2014 was appointed to a full-time anchor/reporter position. There, he co-wrote columns for The Metro newspaper and worked as a fill-in host on sports talk radio shows at WEEL, ESPN Radio, and WWZN. On March 22, 2023, he announced his plan for retirement from the SportsCenter 5 team effective on May 31, 2023. He has worked for more than two decades at WCVB. Where he has covered all eleven Patriots Super Bowls, five Red Sox World Series, and everything in between.

Prior to working at WCVB, he worked for ESPN as a sports anchor from January 2000 to December 2002. There, he anchored and hosted Hilite and interview shows and wrote columns for espn.com’s Page 2. From August 1997 to October 1999, he worked for WFXT as a sports anchor. Prior to that, he was a news and sports anchor for WPRI Media from June 1993 to August 1997. From August 1990 to May 1993, he worked as a news director, news and sports anchor for WCVX-TV. In addition to his broadcasting career, he is the author of Irish Thunder: The Hard Life and Times of Micky Ward, a boxing biography on “Irish” Micky Ward published in 2007 by Lyons Press.
