Janet Wu Biography
Janet Wu is a well-known American Emmy Award-winning TV presenter and Journalist. She worked for WCVB-TV until her retirement at the end of 2022. At WCVB, she worked as a political and investigative reporter and was co-host of WCVB’s “On The Record” along with Ed Harding. She has been a reporter in Boston for 50 years and covering politics for 45 years.

Prior to those roles, she served as WCVB’s NewsCenter 5 Massachusetts political reporter for over thirty years. In addition to her work at WCVB, she was a member of the team at WCVB honored on multiple occasions with the covered Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Political Journalism. Because of her investigative reporting for her report entitled “Public Property, Private Lies”, she was awarded top honors in the Associated Press Investigative/Enterprise category and the Edward R. Murrow Award in 1998.
Furthermore, the NewsCenter 5 political team was honored with a First Place National Headliners Award and a Murrow Award for the best political coverage of any station in the nation in 1989. Also, she was a key member of WCVB’s political unit that received an Emmy at the 2015 Emmy Awards presented by NATAS Boston/New England chapter. In December 2020, Janet was inducted into The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) Boston/New England Chapter’s Silver Circle. In 2015, she received the Inspiration Award from the Asian Community Development Corporation for her consummate work as a political reporter. Prior to working at Channel 5, she was the State House reporter for WGBH-TV, Boston’s public television station. Also, she worked as a reporter for United Press International.
