Brenden Mincheff is an American journalist who works at Newswest 9 as a member of the StormTracker 9 team since December 2020. Mincheff grew up in the Central Florida area. In 2004, Hurricanes Charley, Frances, and Jeanne all made landfall in Central Florida, which piqued Brenden’s interest in the weather.

Brenden earned a bachelor’s degree in science. in meteorology in 2020, realizing a lifelong ambition to work as a meteorologist. He earned a bachelor’s degree in meteorology from the Metropolitan State University of Denver. Brenden worked in student media for more than two years at MSU Denver, including as general manager of the university’s student-run television station.
During that time, he was nominated for a Student Emmy. When Brenden is not monitoring the news or forecasting the weather, he can typically be found reading, cooking, or cheering on his beloved Tampa Bay Lightning and Orlando City Soccer Club.
