Carter Evans is an American correspondent, reporter, and anchor working for CBS News. He joined the station in October 2012 as a correspondent.

After graduating from Punahou School and earning her Diploma in General Education, he had to further his education. He joined Ithaca College to pursue his career course. After completing his studies there, he graduated in 1998 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in broadcast journalism and a minor in philosophy.

Evans is a correspondent, reporter, and anchor at CBS News based in Los Angeles. He reports across all of the network’s platforms. Evans joined CBS News with almost two decades of journalism experience covering major national and international stories. In February 2013, he covered the police shootout with a suspected killer and former LAPD officer Christopher Dorner and received nationwide attention for that. When the authorities closed in on Dorner after an intense manhunt in Big Bear, California, Evans was the only reporter on the scene. Not long ago he was a freelance correspondent for CBS News.
Prior to joining the CBS News team, he worked for CNN Newsource as a business correspondent for four years. He contributed over 20 live shots per day and served as the rotating host of CNN’s financial Q&A segment “The Help Desk.” He also covered the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, Hurricane Irene, the 2011 Japanese earthquake and tsunami, and the 2010 BP oil spill. Evans reported the “Great Recession” from the New York Stock Exchange trading floor. Before that, he reported and anchored in New York for WNYW/WWOR-TV. Moreover, he worked as a freelance correspondent for CBS Newspath covering the California wildfires and filling in for “CBS MoneyWatch.”
In 2003, he headed to Los Angeles, California to work for KCBS/KCAL. While there, he served the station as a reporter for four years. During his working time there, he covered the death and state funeral of President Ronald Reagan. In addition to that, he reported on the red carpet for E! News and hosted their countdown show to the Golden Globes in 2004. His journalism career job began as a freelance reporter for the CBS affiliate KGMB-TV in his hometown Honolulu, Hawaii in 1995.
