CeFaan Kim Biography
CeFaan Kim is an American reporter and correspondent working at ABC News and WABC-TV. He joined the Eyewitness News team as a reporter in September 2015, after previously working in the US Army.
Since Kim joined WABC-TV, he has covered major national breaking news, such as the Chelsea terrorist bombing in September 2016, where he was the first television reporter on the scene. He covered the massive protest at JFK Airport in 2017, in response to President Trump’s travel ban executive order. In addition, he has also reported on poverty in the Asian-American community in New York. Before joining Eyewitness News, he worked at News 12 Westchester/Hudson Valley where he served as a reporter.
While he worked at News 12, he lead the station’s coverage of the January 2015 Metro-North train crash where 6 people died. In 2003, he began his career as a field producer and ad photographer at NY1 News in New York City. Furthermore, he traveled to Iowa and New Hampshire in 2008, where he covered the presidential campaigns of Barack Obama, Rudolph Giuliani, and Hillary Clinton. CeFaan also served as the co-producer of Eliot Spitzer’s 2006 gubernatorial general election debate, Hillary Clinton’s 2006 senatorial debate, and Andrew Cuomo’s primary debate in his run for State Attorney General.
Furthermore, his exclusive story on a woman who died while she waited for EMTs during the 2010 Christmas Blizzard forced the Bloomberg administration to admit the city’s response to the storm had been inadequate. Philadelphia is CeFaan’s native home and he attended New York University where he graduated with a major in Broadcast Journalism. In addition, he is a former sergeant in the U.S. Army Reserves who graduated from Non-Commissioned Officer’s Academy on the Commandant’s List. Furthermore, Kim serves as co-chair of its Media Watch Committee and is a member of the Asian American Journalists Association
