Chelsea Smith is an American journalist who serves on the team as a meteorologist in July 2021. She previously worked as a meteorologist for WTVQ in Lexington, Kentucky. She worked for three years as a meteorologist at WGEM in Quincy, Illinois. She’s thrilled to be in Kentucky and to be forecasting for the state!

Chelsea is a proud Hoosier who grew up on Indianapolis’ south side, but she is thrilled to now call Kentucky home. Her great interest in weather developed when she overcame her childhood fear of thunderstorms.
Her ultimate test of whether or not her fear was gone came while she was storm chasing with her Ball State University storm-chasing class in Eastern Colorado. In 2017, she received her bachelor’s degree from BSU. She attended Indiana University for a year before moving to BSU. She wore the colors of both schools as a cheerleader.
Chelsea has covered a wide range of weather throughout the Midwest, including tornadoes, blizzards, epic floods, droughts, and more. She adores the Midwest because of its ever-changing weather! Smith enjoys spending time with her fiancé and fur baby, Boomer, as well as trying new restaurants and seeing the city when she is not working.
