Cindy Sexton Biography

Cindy Sexton is an American anchor working at WRCB where she serves as the evening anchor at 5, 6, and 11 pm. She has been working at Channel 3 since 1995.

Sexton has been working at Local 3 News for over 35 years and during this time, she has been part of Local 3 News’ Veterans History Project recording over 600 stories of veterans in Tennessee Valley. Over 100 were shown on Channel 3 Eyewitness News such as her father’s story as a Marine in Guadalcanal in WW II.

Together with David Carroll, they are the longest-running anchors in Tennessee. In addition, she enjoys taking part in community activities and has served on the boards of directors of a number of charitable organizations.

Some of the organizations she has worked with include; FCA, Junior Achievement, YMCA, Center for Youth Issues, and Craniofacial Foundation of America. As of the moment, she is involved with the Helene Di Stefano Fund where she assists women to fight breast cancer. Over the years, she was recognized as one of the Heart Association named and Chattanooga’s Distinguished Women in 2005, as a Citizen of the Year. 

Furthermore, her educational background includes a theatre arts degree, speech, and English. She began by working in Paducah at WPSD-TV where she served as a reporter. Later on, she worked in Las Vegas, Huntsville, Alabama, and Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Tennessee is her native home and she was born in Memphis and brought up in Texas.
