Cody Gottschalk Biography
Cody Gottschalk is an American journalist who serves as a weekend meteorologist and resident storm chaser for KLTV and KTRE. He will be tracking severe weather in our First Alert Storm Tracker van, which features Doppler radar and all the weather gear required to keep East Texas safe and informed during tornado season.
Cody Gottschalk Career
Cody is a native Texan who moved to Grand Saline in 2000 from Mesquite. His passions for science and music would bloom into lifelong passions while he was there. He began his journalism career as a part-time camera op at KLTV in November of 2011. Cody worked his way up through the ranks of the production department, eventually becoming a newscast director and even taking on some minor managerial responsibilities before deciding his true calling was on the weather wall.
He would attend Mississippi State University online while working full-time at the station, graduating as a Broadcast Meteorologist in August of 2016. Cody has followed multiple tornadoes and witnessed two in person, as well as a funnel cloud, pass directly over his home. Hurricane Hermine passed across Florida on Cody’s honeymoon, trapping him and his bride in their hotel. Normally, that would spoil a good portion of a honeymoon, but he’ll tell you he’s just a weather magnet with a big smile on his face and tell you he’s just a weather magnet.
