Craig Herrera Biography

Craig Herrera is a Multi-Emmy Award Winning Meteorologist currently working at KING 5. He joined the KING 5 Weather team in September 2018.

Craig Herrera Career

He has been forecasting weather up and down the West Coast for about 20 years, and he is excited and proud to call Seattle home. His on-air career began at KFSN-TV in Fresno, California, and has included stops at KNTV in San Francisco, KGTV in San Diego, and, most recently, KCBS/KCAL in Los Angeles.

His fascination with the weather began at a young age. He was raised in Pojoaque, New Mexico. That is a small town located about 8 miles north of Santa Fe. Pojoaque is approximately 6,000 feet above sea level, and we experienced all four seasons. When he was a kid, he was curious about what caused clouds to “bubble,” why rain fell from them, and why lightning flashed at times. The weather just piqued his interest, so he decided he wanted to be a weatherman when he grew up. He is still a kid at heart, and he is fortunate to be able to make a living doing what he enjoys.

He is honored and proud to have five EmHis Awards on display in his home. They are for the Best Weathercaster in the Pacific Southwest in 2013 and 2014, as well as the Best News Team in a Large Market in 2007, 2013, and 2014. In 2015, viewers voted him “San Diego’s Favorite Weathercaster” in a social media contest. It’s humbling to know that viewers invite us into their homes and rely on our weather predictions.
