Dan Cummins Biography

Dan Cummins is an American journalist working for WTOL as an anchor in the afternoon and for FOX36 newscasts. Before that, he worked as WTOL’s sports director. He joined the station in 1980 as a weekend sports anchor and sports reporter and was later promoted to assistant sports director. Previously, he worked as the weekend sports anchor for a station in Peoria, Illinois.

Cummins transitioned to news anchoring in 2018, covering stories and events that expressed his interests such as farming and military veterans. Covering the November 2024 Flag City Honor Flight’s mission to Washington, D.C., marked his 18th time airing the event.

Task Force 20 named Cummins the 2024 Civilian of the Year. He closely works with HOOVES, a veteran-based facility that helps others through equine therapy. Further, he served as an inductee of the Toledo City League Athletic Hall of Fame in 2012. He was selected as the 2014 Distinguished Alumni from ISU.
