Dan Hanger is an American Anchor/Reporter/Producer working with FOX 21 News where he serves the station as an Evening Anchor/Reporter/Producer. He has been working with the 5:30 and 9 PM news since October 2010.
Dan Hanger Career
Hanger works with FOX 21 News where he joined the station working as a reporter. Later on, in August 2011, he was promoted to the main anchor. Dan has more than 17 years of experience in television, radio, and online journalism. He hopped over to the morning show to produce and anchor newscasts from 7- 9 AM in order to fill a staffing void since April 2022.
Prior to FOX21 News, he was working at GAP West Broadcasting for a cluster of radio stations in Duluth, anchoring and reporting at KBJR-TV, and spent two years working as a web editor with Internet Broadcasting. There, he was publishing news for NBC’s owned-&-operated websites out of Chicago’s WMAQ-TV newsroom during his final year in college.
He is a proud graduate of Columbia College Chicago where he graduated in the year 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Broadcast Journalism. The Chicago native calls the Twin Ports home. He is frequently tapped to emcee some of Northland’s biggest charitable events such as the annual Fur Ball for Animal Allies Humane Society.
Asides from this, he has also been a big supporter of the Polar Bear Plunge for Special Olympics Minnesota, raising more than $14,000 since the year 2012. He also has a dog that plays the role of the unofficial mascot of FOX21 named Brewster. Brewster is a miniature boxer mix rescued from a shelter in Hibbing, Minnesota.
