Dave Evans Biography

Dave Evans is an American reporter working at WABC-TV where he served as a weekday and weekend political reporter. He joined the WABC-TV team in 1999. 

Evans has covered every major election since coming to New York, from the mayoral campaigns of Mike Bloomberg and Bill de Blasio through Hillary Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign. Since 2000, he has served as the primary correspondent for Eyewitness News at every major convention, and he has traveled extensively for ABC7, covering everything from the Iraq war to Governor Andrew Cuomo’s recent visit to Israel. Before you join us, Evans worked for WFAA-TV in Dallas, an ABC affiliate. He covered a wide range of topics there, including the American intervention in Haiti and the war in El Salvador.

He graduates from the University of Missouri and over the years, he has received many honors, including the DuPont-Columbia Award for outstanding team coverage of the World Trade Center terrorist attacks. He’s also won two Dallas Katie awards for his government reporting, as well as the Associated Press Best Reporter in Texas. For his government reporting, he has also received the Associated Press Best Reporter in Texas and two Dallas Katie awards. Evans has completed numerous triathlons and marathons, is an accomplished cook and gardener, and still supports his Dallas Cowboys, much to the chagrin of many.
