David Boyd Biography

David Boyd is an American meteorologist working at WCYB where he serves as weekday morning and noon meteorologist from 4:30 am -7:00 am. He joined the WCYB team in May 2007. 

He was brought up in East Tennessee and since his childhood days, he has always been interested in weather. He joined the University of Tennessee before transferring to the University of Oklahoma where he earned a degree in meteorology. While he was in the University of Oklahoma, he also interned in Knoxville at WATE-TV and at KSBI-TV in Oklahoma City.

In 2006, Boyd worked part-time at WCYB before he joined BBB Cable TV12 in Oak Ridge, Tennessee for 1 year. While he was at the University of Oklahoma, he won a local forecasting contest and was ranked in the top 6% of forecasters in a national contest. Furthermore, in April 2009, he earned an AMS Television Seal of Approval. During his leisure time, he enjoys spending apple time with his family, seeing East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia, and serving the community through his local church.
