David Nelson Biography
David Nelson is an American anchor working for KWQC where he serves as a co-anchored of the 6 and 10 p.m newscasts alongside Paula Sands and Sharon DeRycke in June 2018. He joined the KWQC team in 2009, as a morning co-anchor.
Nashville, Tennessee is his native home and he started his broadcasting career in radio before he was able to secure his first television job as a news writer at WSMV-TV in Nashville. Prior to joining KWQC, he worked at WFSB-TV in Hartford, Connecticut where he served as a morning anchor, and WAVY/Fox 43 in the Norfolk/Virginia Beach, Virginia area where he served as the main anchor. In addition, he moderated the third and final Iowa gubernatorial debate in October 2018 between challenger Fred Hubbell and Governor Kim Reynolds days before Reynolds’ victory.
Furthermore, David has also served as the co-host of KWQC’s live coverage of the Festival of Trees Holiday Parade in Davenport in recent years. For many years, he has served as the annual master of ceremonies for the annual AFP IL Quad Cities Chapter Philanthropy Day Awards. In addition, he has also dedicated his time to support groups such as Junior Achievement, HAVlife, AFP IL Quad Cities Chapter Philanthropy Day, and other groups.
