David Novarro Biography
David Novarro is an American Emmy Award-winning anchor working at WABC-TV where he serves as the co-anchor of the noon and 4 pm newscast. He re-joined the WABC-TV news team in December 2010.
Manhattan’s Lower East Side is his native home and he began his career at WABC-TV as a college intern with time, he rose through the ranks to become a reporter. Later on, he became the New Jersey Bureau correspondent and was named as the Sunday Morning anchor. While working at WABC-TV, he has covered notable stories such as the convicted mastermind of the bombing, the racial profiling case that led to the overhaul of the New Jersey State Police Department, landing a rare interview with blind Sheikh Omar Abdul-Rahman, the first World Trade Center attack, and terror cells operating in New York City and New Jersey.
In addition, for his reports on tenants held hostage in their Brooklyn apartment building by drug dealers who had turned their home into a crack house, he was awarded an Emmy award. He also assisted in growing the station’s community affairs show called Tiempo which was the first public affairs program devoted to issues of interest to the Hispanic community to air in New York City.
Furthermore, he relocated to Chicago in 2000, where he joined WFLD-TV as a morning anchor, and later in 2007, he was promoted to the 10 pm newscast. While he worked in Chicago, reported on Barack Obama’s presidential campaign, with profiles on the then Senator and his family at their home. In addition, David also anchored live coverage during Obama’s historic election night victory from Grant Park. In a 2010 Chicago radio poll, he was voted as Best Newscaster. Not long after, he relocated to New York where he served as a journalist.
