Devin Scillian Biography
Devin Scillian is an American author, musician, and anchor who works for Local 4 where he serves as the Sunday morning host of Flashpoint at 10 am. He joined the Local 4 team in August 1995, as a reporter, and in 1996, he moved to the anchoring position.
Scillian’s work has been honored at home and abroad. His assignments have taken him from the Red Sea to Moscow, from the Forbidden City in Beijing to St. Peter’s Square at the Vatican, and from Jerusalem to Siberia and his passport has taken him to six Olympiads. Devin has won three Edward R. Murrow Awards which is among the highest honors in broadcast journalism.
In 1985, he graduated from the William Allen White School of Journalism at the University of Kansas. After graduating, he started his career at WIBW-TV in Topeka, and later on, he worked at KLTV in Tyler, Texas, WAND in Decatur, Illinois, and KFOR in Oklahoma City. In addition, while he worked at KFOR, he worked around the clock while covering the 1995 bombing at the Murrah Federal Building and his coverage assisted the station to win a Peabody Award. Devin loves politics thus he created Flashpoint which became required viewing for those in the know in Detroit within a short while.
Over the years, he has authored 15 children’s books, and his book, A is for America became a national bestseller. He was invited to read at the annual White House Easter Egg Roll by First Lady Laura Bush in 2004. A number of awards have been awarded to his book, Memoirs of a Goldfish and it also received a Wanda Gag Award for the nation’s best “read aloud” book. In addition, other books authed by him include; H Is For Honor, Fibblestax, Costhe mo’s Moon, and his latest is titled Memoirs of a Hamster.
Furthermore, Scillian is also an accomplished songwriter and musician who has won prestigious Detroit Music Award for Best Country Performer. He has three albums of his original songs and together with his band called, Arizona Son, they mand a number of appearances on the summer concert circuit.
