Ed O’Keefe Biography
Ed O’Keefe is an American correspondent, producer, and contributor working for CBS News. He joined the network in April 2018. Previously worked at The Washington Post for over one decade.

O’Keefe joined Bethlehem Central High School in 1997. In 2001, he graduated with his Diploma in General. While in high school, he was a student senate president. From there, he joined American University, the university’s School of Public Affairs in 2005 to further his education and pursue his career course. After completing his studies there, he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies (Communications, Legal Institutions, Economics, and Government).

O’Keefe serves CBS News as a senior White House and political correspondent reporting for all CBS News platforms. He served for the Biden-Harris campaign and presidential transition as the lead correspondent. O’Keefe led coverage of the Democratic presidential contest from the early primary states over the course of the 2020 campaign cycle. He also conducted several interviews with top contenders including Julian Castro, Pete Buttigieg, Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Amy Klobuchar, and Kamala Harris. During the 2020 Democratic National Convention, he served as the Network’s lead correspondent. In addition to that, he helped lead coverage of Election Night and the ensuing days from CBS News’ Election Headquarters in New York City.
During his tenure at CBS News, he has contributed to coverage of the contentious confirmation hearing for Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, the 2018 midterm elections, the record-long 2019 federal government shutdown, and the blackface and sexual misconduct scandals that rocked Virginia state government that same year. He also covered the funerals of former Georgia Rep. John Lewis, former Arizona Senator John McCain, and former president George H.W. Bush. O’Keefe also interviewed independent Howard Schultz in the early days of the former Starbucks CEO’s exploratory phase.
He joined CBS News’ hours-long coverage of the Jan. 6, 2021 assault on the United States Capitol. Prior to joining the CBS News team, he worked with The Washington Post covering Congress and presidential elections. He is a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and once served as one of the group’s national vice presidents.
