Ed O’Keefe Biography

Ed O’Keefe is an American correspondent, producer, and contributor working for CBS News. He joined the network in April 2018. Previously worked at The Washington Post for over one decade.

During the 2020 Democratic National Convention, he served as the Network’s lead correspondent. In addition to that, he helped lead coverage of Election Night and the ensuing days from CBS News’ Election Headquarters in New York City.

During his tenure at CBS News, he has contributed to coverage of the contentious confirmation hearing for Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, the 2018 midterm elections, the record-long 2019 federal government shutdown, and the blackface and sexual misconduct scandals that rocked Virginia state government that same year.

He also covered the funerals of former Georgia Rep. John Lewis, former Arizona Senator John McCain, and former president George H.W. Bush. O’Keefe also interviewed independent Howard Schultz in the early days of the former Starbucks CEO’s exploratory phase.

He joined CBS News’ hours-long coverage of the Jan. 6, 2021 assault on the United States Capitol. Prior to joining the CBS News team, he worked with The Washington Post covering Congress and presidential elections.
