They moved them to other Medicaid plans that were not offering their specialized care. This report led to lawmakers asking for an investigation.
She was the first journalist to report on Bayer paying doctors millions to push Essure. This is a questionable and possibly unsafe birth control device. Asides from this, she covered the shutdown of a Florida nursing home after surveillance footage showed an 86-year-old resident being beaten.
Asides from her investigative pieces, she has also covered several health crises throughout the US which include coverage of the acute flaccid myelitis affecting children in the year 2018. This is in addition to covering the record-breaking flu outbreak from 2017-2018, the anti-vaccination movement, the deaths of children at the border, and the current measles outbreak. She was privileged to win a Gracie Award from the Alliance of Women in Media for her coverage of the 2014 Ebola outbreak in Liberia.
The year 2010 saw him provide viewers with on-the-scene accounts of the oil disaster in the Gulf of Mexico and the devastating Haitian earthquake in January. Her reporting also included a whistleblower exclusive with a fisherman’s wife who was among the first to speak out about the health concerns of fishermen now working for BP as clean-up workers. While she was in Haiti, she reported from a makeshift hospital, about the complications of transporting critical patients to the U.S., the lack of medical infrastructure and resources, and brought insights to the injury triage.
She has also reported on the aftermath of the destruction of Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
