Ellen Terhune Biography

Ellen Terhune is an American journalist currently working as the news and sports reporter for Eyewitness News. She joined the station in August 2018.

Ellen is ecstatic and pleased to be working in her hometown. Ellen comes to KWCH after graduating with a journalism degree from the University of Kansas in the spring of 2019. Ellen worked as a sports anchor and reporter for KUJH TV, a student-run television station, during her college years. She covered all KU athletics throughout her time at the university, including the men’s basketball team’s NCAA playoff run.

While still in college, Ellen began working as an intern in the KWCH Newsroom in the summer of 2018. She learned the importance of local journalism while interning at KWCH. Ellen is dedicated to locating and conveying the most compelling stories from the viewing communities to the best of her ability. Ellen spends her free time working out at the gym or eating.

KWCH-DT, virtual channel 12 (UHF digital channel 19), is a CBS-affiliated television station licensed to Hutchinson that broadcasts in Wichita, Kansas. Gray Television owns the station as part of a duopoly alongside CW affiliate KSCW-DT in Wichita (channel 33). KWCH-transmitter DT’s is in rural northeastern Reno County, and the two stations share studios on 37th Street in northeast Wichita (on the town limits of Hutchinson).

KWCH-DT is the flagship station of the Kansas Broadcasting System (KBS), a statewide network of four full-power stations that broadcast KWCH’s CBS network and another programming throughout central and western Kansas, as well as neighboring counties in Colorado, Nebraska, and Oklahoma.
