Eric Burris Biography
Eric Burris is an American meteorologist working for WESH as a First Warning meteorologist. He joined the station in 2012 and has served the station for over a decade. Additionally, he has worked for HTV Design as a graphics meteorologist since October 2014.
Eric Burris Education
Burris joined Seminole State University when he finished his education at Lake Howell High School. He later joined Mississippi State University where he graduated with a degree in Geosciences and Broadcast Meteorology. He also studied at the University of Central Florida (UCF), playing the baritone for the UCF Marching Knights.

Burris works for WESH as a First Warning meteorologist. He is thrilled to be forecasting for his family, friends, and native Winter Park. Additionally, he has worked for HTV Design as a graphics meteorologist since October 2014.
Burris launched his career working for another Orlando TV station while he was still a high schooler. His hunger for meteorology steered him toward an internship program at Seminole County Public Schools. After graduating high school, he assisted in broadcasting hurricanes Charley, Frances, Jeanne, and Wilma. These experiences prepared him for his transition from off-screen to on-screen work.
Burris was employed at WESH 2’s sister station in West Palm Beach, WPBF, in 2006. A year later, he helped WESH to broadcast the awful Groundhog Day tornadoes and began filling in on weekends at the station before he joined the station full-time.
Burris works off-screen to support Hearst Television’s 26 other weather units, assisting in creating striking, clear, and comprehensible graphics in the nation. He has always wanted to do weather and also enjoys linking through social media and holding conversations on Facebook.

Eric Burris Weight Loss
After weighing about 300 pounds most of his life, Burris underwent a big weight loss surgery. Surgery was his only option after he found out that simple dieting and exercise didn’t work for him. He then consulted a doctor who told him that losing weight would be impossible without treatment due to problems with his pancreas and insulin production. Burris was also warned that he was at risk of getting diabetes.
He recuperated for four weeks which he found to be difficult. However, he says he would do it again and that the procedure has added years to his life. Moreover, he eats smaller, more frequent meals and prioritizes protein.
