Glenn Burns Biography
Glenn Burns is a retired American meteorologist working for WSB as the chief meteorologist emeritus. In this role, he joins Channel 2 Action News and Severe Weather Team 2 for special weather broadcasts and programs during the year. He joined WSB in 1981 and left in 2022 after working there for 4 decades. He retired on November 22nd, 2022.

Burns joined the University of Florida when refinished his high school education. He later graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and a minor in Astronomy. He did his post-graduate work in astrophysics at the University of Minnesota.

He began his broadcasting career at the age of 14 when he served WSVN in Miami part-time. After graduating college, he worked as an intern at the National Hurricane Center in Miami, working with Dr. Neil Frank and Dr. Joseph Pellissier. Next, he worked in West Palm Beach, Florida at WPTV as Chief Meteorologist.
After working for three years in Florida, he began his post-graduate work in astrophysics at the University of Minnesota, while working as Chief Meteorologist for KARE-TV in Minneapolis. Eventually, that program evolved into a weather school.
During his career, he won numerous awards including the Minnesota Teacher’s Award for a program that involved students, teachers, and KARE in a weather education series. Also, he received numerous awards from the Red Cross, Civil Defense, and Coast Guard, Best of Cobb Magazine and Best of Atlanta Magazine, Associated Press, and Best of Ginwett Magazine for his weather broadcast.
Aside from journalism, he loves involving himself with the community by serving many area charities like the March of Dimes, The Centre for Family Resources, Boys and Girls of Metro Atlanta, and the Starlight Foundation.
