Harry Boomer is an American journalist working for WOIO as a senior reporter. He joined the station as a part-timer in the early 1990s. He also works as an anchor, reporter, host, and executive producer of WUAB 43 Forum, a public affairs program covering community problems.
Harry Boomer Education
Boomer studied at Northern Virginia Community College in Alexandria, Virginia, and Columbia School of Broadcasting in nearby Vienna. During college, he worked for WPGC AM/FM as an air personality. After high school, he was hired as a disc jockey at the Mark IV Supper Club.

He still freelances for public radio specials on WCPN and is a frequent guest on the Feagler and Friends on Idea Stream WVIZ.
Boomer has lived in Greater Cleveland since 1990 and is proud to live in the unforgettable Hough neighborhood in Cleveland. Further, he has worked in the news industry for over 3 decades and broadcasted for nearly 40 years. In 2007, he served as an inductee of the Broadcasters Hall of Fame
Boomer launched his career in Washington, D.C. as an on-air personality and talk show host. He also worked in multiple management positions including two tenures as a news director. He relocated to Ohio in 1980 to program and manage WBXT-AM in Canton.

During his career, Boomer has received awards from the Ohio Educational Telecommunications, the Ohio Associated Press, the National Association of Black Journalists, Women In Communications, and the Press Club of Cleveland.
Active in the community, Boomer regularly works as an MC at events all over northeast Ohio. Additionally, he serves as a member of the Continuing Education Committee at Cleveland State University. He has been the president of the Cleveland chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists and on the board of the Ohio Associated Press. He previously worked on the board of directors of Connections, Health, Wellness, (formerly North East Ohio Health Services). He also served as a board member of The Ohio Center for Broadcasting.
